Playa Arroyo Bermejo
The beach of the two hotels is located west of Playa Jibacoa. The sand is not as fine as Varadero, but still lends itself well for walking. The beach is bounded to the east (Breezes Jibacoa) from an ancient coral reef emerged and west (Cameleon Villas) by Cuban campsites.
The sea is usually calmer during the summer, and it is very easy to see the corals near the beach as the water is crystal clear. Click HERE to see a sign of the Cuban Coast Law on the beach.
Going into the sea is sometimes difficult due to some corals very close to the beach. Jibacoa is known for its proximity to the reef from the beach, but for lovers of turquoise waters and fine sand, it would be preferable to choose Varadero or the Cayos. However, the sea is still beautiful, and you can swim.
Note that there is a tide in Jibacoa of about two feet. It is easier to enter the sea in the morning because the water level is higher for swimming and snorkeling. BEWARE! Avoid venturing out on a pedalboat at low tide, because you might touch the corals and damage them!
As everywhere in Cuba, the beaches are public. You can take long walks (sandals or shoes required) from the hotel, past the campsites, you will eventually reach Playa Jibacoa (3.7 km). At the junction of the hotels Breezes and Cameleon Villas, there are art crafts booths. You can buy paintings of Cuban artists, wood sculptures and others souvenirs.
There are guards at the ends of the beach hotels. Once past the Cameleon Villas do not be surprised to meet Cubans asking for gifts. If you do not have spare things to give, just say no, that's all! It is safe to walk on the beaches of Cuba.
There are several beach chairs as well as palapas (umbrellas made with dried palm leaves). For those who do not like to relax directly in sunlight, there are natural shade, another highlight of the hotels, as it is quite rare to find natural shade on the beaches of Cuba.
Please note that there are no bar services to the beach chairs. You have to walk to the beach ranchón.
At both hotels, there is a marina for the following activities: kayaking, hobby cat, pedal boat and tuba and mask for snorkeling.
Please note that you must book the hobby-cat in advance and an employee of the nautical center with accompany you during the excursion. If you are familiar with the handling of this kind of watercraft, it is possible to go without a guide. Fortunately, there is no Seadoo in Jibacoa. Whew!
