The excursions offered in the hotels
Located halfway between Havana and Varadero, Jibacoa is a strategic place to offer a wide choice of excursions for all tastes and budgets. All foreign tour operators (like Canadians Transat Holidays, Nolitours, Tours Mont-Royal, etc.) offer excursions as well as Cuban tour operator, Cubanacan. The excursions are purchased locally. Although suggested, you do not have to buy your excursions exclusively from the tour operator you book your trip.
You pay either in cash (CUC, Cuban Convertible Pesos) or by credit cards (excluding those issued by U.S. banks such as MBNA). Note there are no automated teller machines (ATM) in Jibacoa. Visit the Things to know section to learn more from our www.cubainfos.net website to learn more about the Cuban currency, credit cards and other important topics for a proper planning a trip to Cuba. This site is now bilingual (French and English).
If you plan to use your credit cards, you are strongly advised to notify the bank BEFORE leaving to Cuba. Financial institutions may refuse transactions in some countries.
The guided tours are in French or English. You specify your preference when registering. Please note that some tours require a minimum of people and are not always available during the low season (May-November). Browse the tour operator books located in the lobby of the hotels. You can only pay in cash for scooter rentals.
In Breezes Jibacoa, there are daily scooter tours offered. If you want to join a groupe, just signin (names and room number) on the board located in front of the lobby. It is possible to be two persons on a scooter, but it is not very comfortable. The tour is guided and includes the cost of gasoline. The helmet is now mandatory in Cuba. Jibacoa is an excellent choice if you want to visit Havana (for one or two days) because the capital is located only one hour from Jibacoa. Many excursions are offered for Havana and prices are very affordable in comparison to many other tourist places in Cuba where you have to take a domestic flight. Havana is a beautiful city.
