Santa Cruz del Norte, Mayabeque, Cuba

Founded in 1714, Santa Cruz del Norte is the largest town near Jibacoa. Many hotel employees live there. The new district includes schools, a day care center, a new hospital, a funeral home and a cemetery. In the downtown area you can find a fort built during the Spanish colonization, the municipal museum, schools, shops, etc.

In the oldest part of the city and along the river is where you can see the local fisherman and their traditional boats. Santa Cruz is also an economic and industrial town with the Havana Club rum factory, a soft drink factory, a large electrical power plant, and other local industries.

Santa Cruz is about 10 km from Playa Jibacoa, it’s easily accessible by taxi, or with a rented car or scooter.
