The animation team from the hotels in Jibacoa usually organize each week a guided Walking Tour to explore the surrounding countryside behind the hotels. The tour is for everyone, the pace is slow and the terrain is fairly easy with some gentle slopes.

This tour is more than a nature walk, it includes a visit to a local farm, and you will see along the road some typical houses, a few family restaurants (paladar), quaint private terrace bars, private homestay (casa particular), while admiring the rich fauna and flora. A few of these local farms offer horseback rides (mountain rides 15 USD, beach rides 10 USD).

You can also go by yourself, no need to worry about safety; the locals are very friendly and will greet you with a Hola and a smile and invite you to visit their home or farm. If you brought some gifts it would be a good time to give them, people who don’t work in the hotels rarely have access to gifts and gratuities.
